Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ First Look Pictures

Seen the new Alice in Wonderland? Oh yes, the magical Tim Burton is back once again with his new adventure starring his wife and pal Johhny Depp. Now, excuse me for saying so, but to be quite frank ol’ Johnny could look like a tramp on crack and I’d still want his bones curled up next to mine. The cast may look all weird and whacked out in their new costumes and make-up, but that’s only inviting me more, really.

The film is a brilliant adaptation of the classic Lewis Carroll novel from 1865, out in 2010, with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. The lead role of Alice will be played by 19-year-old unknown Mia Wasikowska from Australia.

HIV Awareness Video Game: Bad Taste Or More Needed?

There isn’t usually any need to put ‘HIV’ and ‘fun’ in the same sentence, but the people at Warner Brothers and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) have created a game to appeal to the younger generation called ‘Pamoja Mtaani’, which translates to ‘Together in the Hood’. It is currently being played in Nairobi, Kenya – and has apparently taken off with the young adults there.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Fail?

If you’re looking for awesomeness with this next installment of Super Mario Galaxy you may be in for a slight… okay, perhaps, epic disappointment. Miyamoto has recently revealed his plans for the new game saying, “I’ve always felt that the Mario games themselves aren’t particularly suited to having a very heavy story.” With this, he goes on to describe the simplicity of the games, which remind us why the game is so popular in the first place.

Fun Father’s Day Gifts 2009

I’ve never had to worry too much about my father having a sense of humour or about offending him with presents, as he’s really just a big hippy at heart. So if you, like me, have a fun and easy-going papa with which to share the day then take a look at some of the stuff I’ve trawled the internet for, to make this Father’s Day a treat. If, however, you’re forever living in fear of offending or being secretly murdered in your sleep because you bought your dad a blow up doll with a conveniently located hole in the nether region one year, then it would probably be best for you to take a look at our other list of gadgets for Father’s Day 2009.

Facebook Vanity or Insanity URLs?

Nothing pleases me more than stupidity. My feelings towards its existence, however, are weirdly balanced. I sit pleasantly between cackling like a witch at how much stupid people need to be charged Stupid Tax and feeling happy that there’s a portion of the human population that keeps us all entertained. They’re a necessary evil and I can tolerate their dumb behaviour… just about. There’s definitely an art to it and since everyone else has jumped on this bandwagon, I thought it only fair for me to do the same. Given that I am the intentional Queen of Silly, I’ve spent a little while collecting together the most ridiculous and unquestionably some of the most stupid Facebook (vanity) URLs that have been registered since its launch at 5am (BST) on Saturday 12th June 2009.

Here’s the list of the best/worst (depending on how you view it):

Twitter’s Verified Accounts For Famous Celebrities

The popular social networking tool is currently in its beta phases to create Twitter accounts, which they are referring to as verified accounts – a bit like what Paypal does to authenticate users, except not so damn complicated. They are apparently having trouble with false accounts being created, especially for celebrities, whereby identities are faked and tweets are just simply not from that user.

iPhone 3GS Upgrade Cost Farce

So, the eagerly anticipated new iPhone 3GS release happened last night (well, BST anyway) and my, wasn’t everyone a little peeved! Although I spent most of my time chuckling at the hordes of people infecting my Twitter account with talk of the same damn thing, I found solace in knowing that none of it affected me. I have avoided the iPhone so far, but in the last few months have really had urges to own one.

It turns out that O2 aren’t happy with their ridiculous monopoly over the iPhone and want to still charge their loyal customers hundreds of pounds to upgrade to the shiny new 3rd generation toy. You know what means, right? Yep – Twitter has been overrun once again with complaints from all sides of the UK.

New Futurama Flies Back For Another Season!

That adorably foul-mouthed robot, Bender, is making his way back to screens in Futurama after talks today of Comedy Central getting out their wallets for more after a certain other network saw fit to cancel it. The Planet Express crew haven’t been on TV for new episodes for years now with only repeats being on offer, but clearly they’ve have good loyal viewing figures. It has to be a hard life for creator Matt Groening who has now been asked to make another 13 episodes for the all too eager fans.

‘Terminator 4: Salvation’ Review

The machines are back once again to destroy all of mankind on Judgement Day. This franchise is nearly as old as me, much to my chagrin, and growing up with these films has made it nigh on impossible for me to not feel the urge to see the new ones. So, of course, I bimbled on along to the cinema to check it out. I was pretty livid given how Terminator 3 ended, so I really had no hopes and aspirations for this fourth one. Perhaps it’s that that made the film a much more worthwhile prospect for me. Who knows? Either way, I quite enjoyed it and have no qualms telling the naysayers exactly that.
