Twitter’s Verified Accounts For Famous Celebrities

The popular social networking tool is currently in its beta phases to create Twitter accounts, which they are referring to as verified accounts – a bit like what Paypal does to authenticate users, except not so damn complicated. They are apparently having trouble with false accounts being created, especially for celebrities, whereby identities are faked and tweets are just simply not from that user.

iPhone 3GS Upgrade Cost Farce

So, the eagerly anticipated new iPhone 3GS release happened last night (well, BST anyway) and my, wasn’t everyone a little peeved! Although I spent most of my time chuckling at the hordes of people infecting my Twitter account with talk of the same damn thing, I found solace in knowing that none of it affected me. I have avoided the iPhone so far, but in the last few months have really had urges to own one.

It turns out that O2 aren’t happy with their ridiculous monopoly over the iPhone and want to still charge their loyal customers hundreds of pounds to upgrade to the shiny new 3rd generation toy. You know what means, right? Yep – Twitter has been overrun once again with complaints from all sides of the UK.

New Futurama Flies Back For Another Season!

That adorably foul-mouthed robot, Bender, is making his way back to screens in Futurama after talks today of Comedy Central getting out their wallets for more after a certain other network saw fit to cancel it. The Planet Express crew haven’t been on TV for new episodes for years now with only repeats being on offer, but clearly they’ve have good loyal viewing figures. It has to be a hard life for creator Matt Groening who has now been asked to make another 13 episodes for the all too eager fans.

‘Terminator 4: Salvation’ Review

The machines are back once again to destroy all of mankind on Judgement Day. This franchise is nearly as old as me, much to my chagrin, and growing up with these films has made it nigh on impossible for me to not feel the urge to see the new ones. So, of course, I bimbled on along to the cinema to check it out. I was pretty livid given how Terminator 3 ended, so I really had no hopes and aspirations for this fourth one. Perhaps it’s that that made the film a much more worthwhile prospect for me. Who knows? Either way, I quite enjoyed it and have no qualms telling the naysayers exactly that.

Spotify Officially Legal

In January we brought you news of Spotify; a free and very easy way to stream music straight to your computer using the magical powers contained within the internet. Samknows Broadband queried this idea of this sought after company and has finally come back with the treasure.

It turns out that the ad-based streaming website is officially, and most importantly legally, allowed to operate within the UK, after talks with the Performing Rights Society. It isn’t exactly known how much individual artists receive by users surfing on Spotify, but it’s safe to say that the artists are at least being recognised and rewarded.

EA Introduces The Harm Girl Club?

Girls! Ever wanted to be part of a club that mocks you for every effort you make? Wow, you’ve done your hair today – here, have a shiny jewelled piece of pixilated nonsense to make your lives seem worthwhile and fulfilled. Oh look, you’ve organised that much needed sleepover that girls apparently do every weekend – here, have a new BFF. Excellent – you’ve now also managed to put some clothes on and go on a virtual date with a boy, why don’t you have yourself another slice of meaningless claptrap in the form of a shiny gemstone which you can also place inside your jewellery box. Had enough? I sure have.

In terms of aspirations, games for girls leave us all with quite a foul taste in our mouths. Electronic Arts announced at the E3 Gaming Expo 2009 a couple of days ago that they were going to release a selection of games that appealed more to girl gamers. They’ve decided to call the franchise the Charm Girls Club – visit the website at your own peril, plus shouldn’t there be an apostrophe in there somewhere? Now, if you read my article on Della – Dell’s new website for women – last week, then you’ll probably have a fair idea of where I’m going to go with this. If not, buckle up; you’re in for more of a ride.

New Zelda Games, Not One, But TWO!

So, if you’ve been itching for the latest gossip on Nintendo’s new Zelda releases, here it is! Nintendo are releasing two new versions of the popular game, one for the Wii and one for the DS (Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks). I’m a little dork at the best of times, but nothing gets me giggling like a little schoolgirl more than Zelda.

Shigeru Miyamoto has announced at a private conference at this year’s E3 that there will definitely be a new release soon, but refused to put a date on it. Let’s hope it’s out by the end of 2010. The game development hasn’t really begun and there wasn’t much to show those that had attended, except a piece of concept artwork – which wasn’t even allowed to be photographed. Thanks for getting us all excited and then knocking us back down Miyamoto! Well, to be honest, I can’t complain much. He is giving us what we want after all.

‘Coraline’ Review

At some point when we were young, we always wished we were somewhere else, in a place far away and somewhere much more exhilarating. We wished for different parents, siblings, friends and almost certainly different lives to the ones we had. But, none of us ever thought as far as what would happen if that wishful thinking were to become a reality. In Coraline’s case, she gets a lot more than she bargains for when she goes in search of adventures to places she knows nothing of. What exploits lurk behind that mysteriously small door?

Scott Pilgrim Rocks The Universe Like No Other!

There is only one thing in this world that successfully combines video gaming, fighting power and an adventure to blow your mind – and it’s all contained in a series of pint-sized comics, of which five out of six have already been released. The film and the final installment are due out in 2010.

If you don’t already know anything about Scott Pilgrim, I can assure you that you’ll be glad I came along. For he is not only the biggest geek/dork that you’ll ever come across, but he is also the most awesome fighter you shall ever lay your wide eyes upon. He surpasses all kinds of intergalactic brilliance, doesn’t drink alcohol and sure as hell won’t take any nonsense from vegans. Through the magnificence that is Bryan Lee O’Malley’s mind, Pilgrim exploded onto the comic book scene in 2004 and so much so that Edgar Wright decided he needed to reciprocate the love by directing the film, named after the fourth book: Scott Pilgrim vs The World. O’Malley has been keeping us entertained on Twitter with his Pilgrim updates – and if you’re around on it also and care for more of my ramblings, then feel free to add me (it’d be a good idea to leave a comment below so I know who you are).
